We are one of the recipients of the Luton Rising Community Investment Fund which is administered by the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation. The fund contributes to around 10% of our core income to enable us to offer 1:1 support, advocacy and signposting for our clients and their families who live in Luton. We have reached the end of our second year of funding from Luton Rising and about to enter year 3. At this time of year, we take the time to reflect on the year just gone and the impact our service has made on the lives of our clients and their families.

Here is a snapshot of the types of work the fund helps us achieve:

  • Ongoing Centre Support to provide long-term ad hoc 1:1 support for clients with mobility, emotional, financial and social problems.
  • Community Support to liaise with outside agencies and attend appointments with clients.
  • Trial of the online monthly Saturday carer/family peer support group led by the Community Service Manager.
  • Project co-ordination and administration

Without this funding we would not have the staff capacity to provide such a holistic and diverse service to those with quite complex needs after their acquired brain injury.

So thank you to Luton Rising, which is a unique company as it is solely owned for community benefit and is by far the most socially impactful airport in the country. Luton Rising is a company focused on social investment, whose assets include London Luton Airport, the Luton DART, Morton House and other commercial properties.
