Today I finished four months of volunteering at Headway Luton. During my time at Headway, I have had the opportunity to engage in a variety of tasks that have significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth. My responsibilities have included serving clients tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and lunch, which allowed me to build meaningful relationships with both clients and staff. I particularly enjoyed supporting clients in computing, helping them navigate technology and improve their digital skills. This experience has been instrumental in reinforcing my passion for computer science, a field I am excited to study in college.
In addition to computing, I have assisted Claudette with worksheets and quizzes, and supported clients in playing games like dominoes and Scrabble. These activities not only provided entertainment but also fostered a sense of community and engagement among the clients.
I am proud to share that I was honored with the Volunteer of the Month award for both May and June, a recognition that reflects my dedication and hard work. Volunteering at Headway has taught me invaluable lessons in empathy, patience, and teamwork. I have developed strong relationships with both clients and staff, who have been incredibly supportive and kind.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Justin for his guidance and the computer knowledge he imparted to me. I also want to thank Claudette and Stella for being two of the nicest and most supportive people I have had the pleasure of working with.
I wholeheartedly recommend volunteering at Headway to anyone looking to develop new skills and gain meaningful experience. This organization is dedicated to helping people grow and succeed, and it has certainly made a significant impact on my life.
As I embark on my journey to study computer science in college, I carry with me the lessons and experiences from Headway, confident that they have prepared me well for the future.
