My name is Freddie and I have been volunteering 1 day per week at Headway Luton since June 2023 alongside my 4 day per week paid job at a medical PPE manufacturing business.
Having had a brain haemorrhage as a result of an aneurysm when I was 9, I thought Headway would be a great opportunity for me to give back to my local community and other people who are experiencing what I went through when I was 9. I also play disability Football on Saturdays for Tottenham Hotspurs CP Men’s team and had trials for England when I was 16 years old. CP football is for athletes who have Cerebral Palsy or an acquired brain injury. This proved to myself that anything is possible and I try to emulate this attitude onto the Headway Clients. I have really enjoyed my time at Headway and have no plans to leave unless my work situation were to change to 5 days per week.
